suurperhe? -- a big family?

oi, tänään yllätyspostia englannista. kiitos maiju! heh, yksi suklaapupu oli jo suussani ennenkuin kuvan ehdin napsasta. kiva kun niitä oli viisi. jokaiselle suklaata syövälle perheenjäsenelle. eilen nimittäin katselin joitakin matkamahdollisuuksia ja hotelleja ja tuli ihan sellainen olo että perheessä ei saisi olla kuin kaksi lasta. tylsää. lohdutuksen toi VIISI pupua :) --mahdumme vielä johonkin maailmaan. niin, tuossa paketissa oli mm. minimiehen tennarit. tulette ne vielä varmasti näkemään...

today some surprise mail from england! thank you maiju! heh, one of the chocolate bunnies was already in my mouth before taking the picture. it was nice that there were five of them. one for each chocolate eating family member. yesterday i looked at some hotel and flight possibilities and felt like a family shouldn't have more than two kids. sad. FIVE bunnies brought the comfort :) --we will still fit to some worlds. so in the package there were shoes for a mini-man. you will see them one day here.

vauva on tänään kuukauden vanha ja painaa jo melkein viisi kiloa. syntymäpaino oli 3260. hänellä luultavasti on se refluksitauti, mistä neuvolassa keskustelimme tänään. nukkuu öisin pääasiassa turvakaukalossa tai sitterissä eli melko pystyasennossa. ilmavaivojakin on, etenkin aamuyöstä. skotlannin nummien lintsille kiitokset ihmevedestä :) juuri M haki sen postista. katsotaan auttaako.

the baby is one month old today and weighs already almost five kilograms. the birth weight was 3260. he most likely has the reflux disease. we discussed about it today at neuvola (1 month check up). he mainly sleeps in a baby chair or in a car seat during the night so he is in upright position. he also has stomach problems that are the worst in the early morning. thanks to the scotland field's lintsi for the miracle water :) M just got it from the post office. let's see if it will help.

mango-limemousse oli hyvää! (ks. uusin yhteishyvä, paitsi yksi lime riittävä minusta).

lapset ovat harrastaneet lintubongausta tänään lintukirjoinensa niin parvekkeellamme kuin retkellämmekin.

the children have been birdwatching today with their bird books as well on our balcony as on our little trip to seurasaari.

oi miten sympaattinen oli tämä pääsiäiskokkotapahtuma. lapset --trulleiksi monet pukeutuneina-- saivat esittää lauluja suurelle yleisölle. sen verran paljon lapsia kiinnosti nuo vanhat rakennukset että kesällä ehdottomasti seurasaareen on palattava. uimarantakin siellä olisi.

oi how symphatic was this easter bon fire happening. children --many of them wearing a witch outfit-- were able to perform songs to the big audience. our children were so interested in the old buildings that we definitely need to go back during the summer time. a little beach would also be found in there.

lomailua -- holiday

olemme kotona pääsiäisen. kaunista ilmaa on ennustettu. ihanaa! eilen aurinko kutsui meidät lempipaikoille lounasaikaan. iltapäivähän siinä vierähti. imetin aina välillä auringon lämmittämässä autossa. miehen kollega perheineen sattui samalle rannalle.

we'll stay at home for the easter holiday. they say the weather will be nice. wonderful. yesterday around the lunch time the sun invited us to our favorite spot. it took the whole afternoon. sometimes i went and breastfed W in the sun-warmed car. M's colleague and her family happened to be at the same beach.

S löysi madon josta tuli välillä riita. sitä oli niin kiva hoitaa. meidän mr. house muuten kuoli tällä viikolla. jalottelureissullaan oli maistellut tiskiainetta. myös pienempi etana oli sen näköinen että sama on tapahtunut hänellekin, joten... kastematoa en kuitenkaan hyväksynyt uudeksi lemmikiksemme!

S found a worm which caused some fights. it was so nice to take care of it. by the way our mr. house died this week. one day when he was walking around freely he tasted some dishwashing liquid. also the little one looked like he is about to die, so... anyway, i didn't accept the worm to be our new pet!

tänään D ja S oppivat ajamaan polkupyörillä! ainakin alkeet. vihdoin! paitsi no, eipä sitä paljon tullut viime kesänä harjoiteltua. E:n kulkuväline on nyt potkupyörä. sellainen jossa on satula mutta ei polkimia. "juoksee" sillä nyt tosi hyvin. vauvaa olen pitänyt aika paljon kantoliinassa niin on tyytyväisempi ja saa olla pystyasennossa. hänellä kun on varmaan jonkin sortin refluksitauti. ainakin oireet viittaisivat siihen. yleistähän se näköjään lopulta on mitä nyt olen tutustunut aiheeseen. kaikilla vaan hieman eri tasoista.

today D and S learnt to drive bikes! at least the beginning. finally! or well, we didn't practice last summer very much. E's vehicle is now a kicking bike. there is a seat but no pedals. he "runs" with it now very well. W has been more in a baby sling so he is more satisfied and can be in upright position. he probably has some sort of reflux disease. at least the symptoms are pointing at it. it looks like it's very common actually. everybody just has it in different levels.

tykkääkö kukaan muu täällä mämmistä? maistoin pitkästä aikaa. olipa hyvää. ihan vain sinisen maidon kanssa. lisää on kyllä ostettava. totuin mämmin makuun jo pienenä kun mummoni aina sitä teki meillekin. syömisestä vielä sen verran että syön nyt raskausaikaan verrattuna todella vähän. tuntuu hassulle. ja sillä sekunnilla kun alan imettämään alkaa minua kuvotuttaa ajatuskin ruuasta. kun lopetan voin taas ajatella syöväni edessäni olevaa ruokaa. kummallista. imetysajan herkkua mulle näyttää olevan viili talkkunajauholla ja hillonokareella.

does anybody else here like mämmi? i tasted it after a long pause. it was good. not with cream this time, just with the blue milk. i need to buy more. i got used to the flavor of mämmi already as a child when my grandma made it also for us. one thing still about eating. i eat so much less now that i'm not pregnant any more. it feels weird. and in the same second i start to breast feed i feel nauseous about food. when i finish i can again think about eating the food in the front of me. strange. i could now eat tons of viili (finnish sour cream product) with some talkkunajauho (a special type of mix of flours) and a hint of jam.

pääsiäinen -- easter

tänään kotitehtäväksi oli tullut puhua kotona vanhempien kanssa, miksi pääsiäistä vietetään. S sanoi: "tiedän miksi mutta haluan tietää MITEN sitä vietetään!" :) niin, siinäpä vasta pulma. isi vastasi: "menemme kirkkoon, syömme pääsiäisaterian (mitäköhän se muuten voisi olla, ja kuka sen tänä vuonna loihtisi...) ja piilotamme munia"... mihin D sanoi: "miksi pääsiäisenä ON suklaamunia?" se muuten kuulostaakin hassulle. koitimme kertoa että se muistuttaa keväästä ja elämästä jne. symboliikkaa liittyen pääsiäiseen. minulle joka juhla taitaa olla sitä että askartelemme, väritämme tai piirrämme! olen kuvannut aika paljon lapsuuden ajan taidettani (ja heittänyt ne aidot pois). tuossapa ehkä pari askarteluideaa teillekin?

today the homework was to talk with the parents about easter and why do some people celebrate it. S said: "i know why but i want to know HOW do we celebrate it!" :) well, that is a good question. daddy answered: "we go to church, we have a special dinner (by the way, what could that be and who will make it this year...) and we hide some eggs". to which D said: "why do we HAVE chocolate eggs in easter?" which does sound strange. we tried to tell that it reminds about spring time, life etc. easter symbolism. it looks like to me every celebration is handicrafts, coloring and drawing! i have photographed some art from my childhood (and then threw the origins away). maybe couple of handicraft ideas for you?

these i made last easter. out of white 'clay' and i think i painted them with water colors. yesterday we made (ex tempore and quickly) some traditional chicks. i shall photograph them and show what kind of chicks i mean.

pikku virpojanoidat kävivät saman talon lapsiperheessä, saman kadun ystävättärellä ja entisellä kodilla virpomassa. poitsut tykkäs.

the little witches went to the same-building neighbors, same-street friend of mine and to our old home today. the boys liked this a lot.

ajattelin, että täytyy vähän kertoa lapsille myös pääsiäisen hienosta sanomasta. tähän (klikkaa isoksi, jos haluat käyttää tätä) on kivasti laitettu pääsiäisviikon tapahtumat ylös päivä päivältä. ala-asteella muuten teimme vastaavanlaisen kalenterin, johon liimasimme kuvat ja osan kuvista piirsimme itse. muistan elävästi.

i thought that i should tell to the children also about the wonderful message of easter. in this (click the picture if you want to use this) is nicely put the happenings of the easter week day by day. in the lower school we made this type of calendar. glued the pictures and drew some of them by ourselves. i remember it very clearly.
